The Missing Premium Pet Lifestyle Market in India
For years, pet care in India has focused largely on food, grooming, and healthcare, while lifestyle products remained a neglected category. Consumer brands like Bluorng, Jaywalking, and Gully Labs have shown how design, culture, and community can transform everyday products into aspirational lifestyle brands. The pet industry, however, has had few brands built around that same idea, creating an opportunity for a new generation of culture-driven brands. PawDrip aims to become that aspirational brand for modern pet parents. Safe, long-lasting perfumes designed specifically for pets were difficult to find, and stylish accessories that matched the expectations of modern pet parents were equally limited. As more families began treating pets as members of the household, especially among DINK (Double Income, No Kids) households, expectations shifted from basic care to premium experiences. The market was ready for thoughtful products that balanced safety, design, and emotional value. PawDrip emerged to bring that culture-driven, Gen Z-inspired lifestyle approach to the pet category, and behind that vision was a young founder whose own experiences with pets shaped everything that followed.
Growing Up with a Different Vision for Pets
Vaibhav Jha grew up in Jaipur, where he noticed that pet owners had very few innovative options beyond traditional accessories. Even within his own family, there was a desire to find unique collars and products that made pets feel just as special during celebrations as everyone else. He also believed pets deserved products that were safe while adding joy to everyday life. The loss of his own pet, Ace, made those thoughts even more personal. Wanting to create products that Ace would have loved to wear, Vaibhav transformed a deeply emotional memory into a purpose that gradually became the foundation of PawDrip's journey.
Building PawDrip at the Age of 18
Vaibhav started PawDrip when he was only 18 years old. He initially began by offering pet grooming services, which gave him valuable insights into the everyday needs of pet owners and the gaps in the market. As his understanding of the industry grew, he decided to pivot from a service-based business to building a premium pet lifestyle brand. During this period, his father passed away, and financial stability was difficult to maintain. Despite these personal hardships, he continued working toward his vision. The early days demanded patience, resilience, and constant learning, setting the stage for the obstacles that every young business must eventually overcome.
The biggest challenge during PawDrip's first six months was creating awareness around a completely new brand. Introducing premium pet lifestyle products required educating customers while also earning their trust. Progress began to feel real when the company's first inventory was successfully sold and the startup received a grant, providing valuable confidence during an uncertain phase. Throughout this period, Vaibhav found consistent encouragement from his sister, who became the first person to believe in his vision. Those early moments of support helped transform small achievements into the confidence needed to pursue much bigger ambitions.
Building Experiences Beyond Pet Products
Rather than limiting itself to selling products, PawDrip focused on creating memorable experiences that strengthened the emotional bond between pets and their families. Every perfume, collar, and accessory was designed to become part of a larger lifestyle rather than simply another purchase. That philosophy became especially visible when the company organized India's first IIFA-inspired pet show in Jaipur, featuring a large-scale pet fashion show that brought together pet parents, brands, and the wider community. PawDrip also earned recognition as one of the top 13% brands in the WTF Fund cohort led by Nikhil Kamath, reinforcing confidence in its long-term vision.
Looking ahead, PawDrip aims to become one of India's most loved premium pet lifestyle brands by combining thoughtful products with memorable experiences and a strong community. The goal extends beyond fashion alone. Vaibhav wants to help create a culture where pets are celebrated through innovative design, premium care, and experiential events that bring pet parents together. By continuously raising standards for quality and creativity, PawDrip hopes to become the first choice for modern families seeking the very best for their pets. That long-term vision remains rooted in the same emotional connection that inspired the company from the beginning.
Lessons from Building PawDrip
Although the journey included personal loss, financial uncertainty, and the challenge of introducing a new category, Vaibhav says he never seriously considered quitting. The happiness of seeing pets enjoy the products and watching their owners smile continues to motivate him every day. Reflecting on his experience, he encourages future founders not to wait for perfect conditions because they rarely exist. Instead, he believes entrepreneurs should keep building, learning, adapting, and showing up consistently. His philosophy is captured in a simple belief that continues to guide PawDrip's growth:
Big brands are built by big vision, not big resources.
