The Growing Need for Sports in Modern Workplaces
Modern workplaces are becoming increasingly dependent on desk jobs, long working hours, and digital communication. While these changes have improved efficiency, they have also reduced physical activity and limited genuine human interaction among colleagues. Many organizations struggle with employee engagement, teamwork, and overall wellness because meaningful relationships rarely develop within office walls alone. At the same time, more people are beginning to recognize the importance of fitness as part of everyday life rather than an occasional activity. This changing mindset created space for new approaches, leading Rara Sports & Entertainment to explore how sports could strengthen both workplace culture and healthier lifestyles. That purpose was closely connected to experiences its founders had lived themselves.
Deepanshu Rara grew up in Jaipur and dedicated much of his early life to football, eventually competing at the national level. An injury changed his playing career, but it also encouraged him to look beyond the field and understand the wider sports ecosystem. Instead of stepping away from sports, he chose to study Sports Management at the International Institute of Sports Management in Mumbai and later worked on major sporting events including the IPL, PKL, and NBA tournaments. Alongside him, Priya Agrawal, a Jaipur-based model, influencer, and journalism graduate from Mumbai, shared a strong belief that fitness should become a natural part of people's daily lives, giving both founders a common direction.
Turning Industry Experience Into a Startup
In 2024, Deepanshu Rara and Priya Agrawal founded Rara Sports & Entertainment in Jaipur with a simple objective: promote sports, encourage fitness, and help organizations build stronger teams through sporting experiences. Their work focused on corporate sporting events designed to improve collaboration, trust, and productivity while creating enjoyable experiences outside traditional workplaces. They also organized experiential sporting events that encouraged individuals to adopt healthier lifestyles. Positioning themselves as Rajasthan's corporate sporting events company allowed them to build a distinct identity while staying committed to making sports accessible beyond professional athletes, opening new opportunities as the journey progressed.
The early months brought challenges that extended far beyond event management. Encouraging people to prioritize their health required changing long-established routines, while convincing companies to invest time in sports meant demonstrating the long-term value of stronger workplace relationships. Deepanshu also carried memories from his own football journey, where sponsorship opportunities, quality tournaments, coaching, and broadcasting support were often limited. Those experiences reinforced his belief that Indian sports deserved greater investment and wider public attention. Every conversation with clients and participants strengthened the founders' understanding that creating lasting behavioural change would require patience as well as persistence.
Small Wins That Strengthened Their Belief
Instead of measuring success only through numbers, the founders found confidence in the response they received from clients and participants. Positive reviews, repeat relationships, and the quality of events they delivered became important milestones during their growth. They also noticed a larger social shift as more young people embraced fitness and moved away from unhealthy habits. This reinforced their belief that sports and wellness were becoming increasingly relevant in everyday life. Although building the business remained financially challenging, these signs of progress encouraged them to keep improving and preparing for larger opportunities ahead.
For Deepanshu and Priya, the company represents more than event management. They hope to encourage healthier lifestyles while contributing to a stronger sporting culture across India. Deepanshu dreams of seeing India qualify for future FIFA World Cups, win more Olympic medals, and inspire parents to view sports as a meaningful career option for their children. Priya hopes her background in journalism and marketing can help make sports a larger public movement that reaches everyday families. Together, they believe healthier communities and stronger sporting ecosystems can grow alongside one another through consistent effort.
Lessons From Sports That Guide Entrepreneurship
The founders openly admit that there are days when quitting feels easier, especially when financial returns fall short of expectations. Yet every morning they choose to continue, believing that persistence eventually creates opportunities. Deepanshu often reflects on the biggest lesson sports has taught him: consistency, combined with thoughtful planning, ultimately produces results. That philosophy continues to guide both their business and their personal lives. Watching more young Indians embrace fitness gives them confidence that the movement is growing steadily, reinforcing their belief that meaningful change is created one determined step at a time rather than through overnight success.
